Council endorses MZO to advance Stronach International HQ

The preliminary development plans propose the construction of a new +/-60,000 sq.ft facility to support the manufacturing, research and development, sales, and service of the SARIT electric vehicle, along with accessory office space and restaurant space. The facility will have the initial capacity to produce and assemble 30,000 electric vehicles on an annual basis. The new facility is intended as an assembly plant and display centre with most production occurring elsewhere in York Region, and other locations in Canada and worldwide. Initial estimates will see the creation of between 100-150 jobs for WS as well. This is exciting news for our community.

After consultation with the Wesley Corners community, and with their endorsement of the proposal, Council formally endorsed the MZO request. Growing our ICI base has been a focus of mine and this council for the entire term. You may recall it is part of our Strategic Plan Pillar 2.

Pillar 2. Expanding the tax base through a growing, diversified economy: Building and maintaining a tax base that supports the highest quality program and service delivery.

  • Focus on servicing and development of Provincially Significant Employment Zones
  • Update the Economic Development strategy and continue to attract businesses to locate in WS
  • Identify expansion areas for Industrial / Commercial growth

We look forward to Site Plan process beginning in the near future. Below are images of the layout and location.
