2021 marks the 12th anniversary of National Indigenous History Month, which started in 2009 with the passing of a unanimous motion in the House of Commons. In June, we celebrate and honour the history, heritage and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in Canada.
As part of my own recognition and need to learn about our Indigenous History, sadly much for the first time, I have enrolled in a University of Alberta course called Indigenous Canada. The best part is that it is FREE. I would encourage everyone to join me in learning about our Indigenous history. We have things to learn!
Course info can be found here.
Also, the Federal Government has provided a great resource which can be found- National Indigenous History Month 2021 and Peoples Day promotional resources
