It is not often that you get a call from York University asking if you would consider pitching a multi-disciplinary group of students on a “problem” the town may have. Last fall, this is exactly what happened.
Unsurprisingly, I challenged the students with this idea.
“What is a 15-Minute Smart City?
A 15-minute city should be equitable and cater to various demographics where work, leisure, and entertainment should be equally accessible within the region and housing prices should not favour only those with higher incomes.
In essence, a 15-minute city is a redesign of how we have come to understand and conceptualize living within the urban environment.
