Mayor Iain Lovatt

Mayor Iain Lovatt was elected as Mayor of Whitchurch-Stouffville in 2018. Mr. Lovatt was first elected to Whitchurch-Stouffville Council in 2014 as Ward 5 Councillor.

Mayor Lovatt serves on York Regional Council and is the current Vice-Chair of Housing York Inc. He also serves as the Vice-Chairman of York Region’s Transportation Committee, serves on the Audit Committee for York Region, and sits on the Board of Directors for York Telecom Network.

Mayor Lovatt sits on Parks Canada’s Rouge National Urban Park Advisory Board and gives his time to a number of non-profit organizations related to the arts & health. Last term, he was the York Region Council ex-officio Director on the York Region Arts Council.

Mayor Lovatt’s fundraising efforts this term have been directed to the Whitchurch-Stouffville Legacy Fund and have raised a $1,000,000 endowment and over $750,000 in grant funds for local Whitchurch-Stouffville charities and service groups.

As Co-Chair of The Campaign for Markham Stouffville Hospital, his efforts will help the hospital to reach their $100 million fundraising goal.

Mayor Lovatt and his wife Mary have three children.
