Housing York is @yorkregiongovt housing provider. For some reason only single-tier and lower tier municipalities are qualified to apply to the federal Housing Accelerator Fund. That make no sense.
York Region Mayors went to Ottawa in April to meet with then Minister of Housjng Hon. Ahmed Hussen to plead for funding and a change in the policy. With almost 2000 units shovel ready, Housing York can make a significant difference NOW! Yet we can’t do it alone.
Over 15000 families are on our Housing York wait list. 15000!!!
We’ve heard nothing back from our meeting in April and remain ineligible. Why shut out regional housing providers from this funding?
@justinpjtrudeau & @seanfrasermp – please fix this oversight in your funding policy and allow ALL regional housing providers be eligible. Housing York is proven, tested and can get housing built quickly for those who need it most in York Region. Help us get people a roof over their heads!
